4870 any good?

hi, im looking to upgrade my graphics card, if you check my sig youl see why.

I was thinking about getting a 4870, this one actually.

Is this the best i can get for that price? Or maybe if i go up a little can i get alot more of a card?

Also want to check compatibility of it with my machine, see sig.

I would want this to run Doom 4 when it comes out too.
 
If you have a Crossfire motherboard, I would go with the 4870. The 4870 and GTX 260 are both great cards, and are very close in terms of performance. GTX 260 would most likely be better in a single card solution because of the ability to run PhysX, but if you plan on adding a card later, go with the 4870.

i get insane fps in all my games. make sure you have enough cooling.
to verify compatibility, you would need to tell us what motherboard you are using.
