Alright..

Would getting the 4870 for my setup be wise? How long would it be useful? Crossfire isn't an option, unless I narrow down my problem to Mobo related, but even then, I don't want to be stuck with two cards.

So, 4870, how long would it be useful?

Newegg $270 - $245 w/ MIR:

Microcenter $280 - $250 w/ MIR:

Thanks.

No one knows, just buy it and dont wait. The longer you wait, the older it will get. You can always sell it to me when your done with it :)

tbh i would stick with your newer 8800gt for a bit and wait until nvidia release something new again and maybe get a GTX 280 or something when it goes down in price.

Unless your sure the card is damaged, stick with the 8800GT's for now since you have a 750i.

Of course, if you forgot to sink the VRMs.. then i would not seat the stock heatsink back on and try to RMA (because they would never know).. i mean that would be just wrong. :P

haha,.. soo true. I mean, personally I would never do that,.. but its not liek they dont make enough money anyways.. :P

could be the card isnt bad tough, but if you did forget the voltage regulator heatsink, the voltages of the card might be unstable, making it crash.
