4870?

im making a new computer and i was wondering about getting a radeon 4870. if i got this graphics card now could i buy a 5870 in a few months and use the 4870 and the 5870 in a crossfire setup and if not could i use the 4870 to do something else or would it be useless?

well, i got a 4870... i loved mine... i definitely wouldn't crossfire it with the 5870... because the 5870 would have to reduce down to a 4870... for the price i would either save up for a 5870, or buy a 5850 now, and get another one later. heres a article i think you will like. http://legitreviews.com/article/1107/1/

5870 and a 4870 will most likely not play nice. That's the equivalent to running a 4870 and a 3870 in crossfire. Its not gonna happen. If you plan on upgrading that soon, its almost pointless. I'd suggest going for the 5870's slightly littler but much more affordable brother, the 5850 instead. Its a half decent compromise considering your options.
