4G vs. LTE vs cable

Iv still been playing with my new phone. Ill post some speeds up when i get more time. Im actually at work using my phone right now.

So. It seems that lte is a bit faster than my cable. Ill test it to see for sure, but browsing the web seems much faster on my phone than my computer.

And 4G vs lte, night and day if you ask me. 3 bars of lte is like twice as fast as full 4G service.

But like i said, ill run some test later after work. Btw my carrier is at&t.
 
good to know. But would that not too also depend on your cables speed? Like i am getting 30MB installed as we speak, so I doubt that LTE could keep up, but ya never know.

That can be alot of different things, computer full of spyware, malware, and viruses. You say you have AT&T as your carrier, is that for your computer to(cable/land-line)? If so, what is your internet speed of your ISP? Also, your cell phone don't have 50 programs tryin to get online like your computer. Remember, your only as fast as the weakest link. If someone has 5MB/sec upload speeds, and you got 50MB/sec download, you will be getting that file/or whatever at 5MB/sec. download. I have a Samsung Galaxy SII epic 4G through Sprint and it's no where near as fast as my PC online, but thats because I got 80MB/sec download speeds, with 30MB/sec. upload.

I can very well run 10MB as advertised If I shut of wireless and only have ethernet to me desktop, in short burst none the less. The more people you put on a system the less speed each person gets. 4G may be good, but with hundreds of thousands of people on it, I doubt that everyone would get 50+ MB from it.

80mbs? Thats insanse. My cable is 30mbps down 1mbps. Im about to test my phone now. And yes i know my computer speed depends on clutter, but i do my best to keep it clean.

Don't get me wrong, when at peek hours I do see a speed drop.

So your saying its completely possible that my phone is faster than my cable? I mean, alot of times it seems that way when browsing the web.

And I tried to run a speedtest last night at work, but it wasnt working for some reason. It kept saying failed to connect to server.

This is the speed on my computer right now, Iv seen it go up to 32Mbps but I am only paying for 20Mbps so its all good:



And here is 3 bars of 4G on the same server:




I have to wait till Im at work to do LTE. I dont have LTE service where I live.

It depends a lot on your location, around here I get around 25-35Mbps download and 15-20mbps upload with Verizon 4G LTE, and with AT&T 4G I got around 8-15Mbps download.

The big catch is that latency is higher on mobile broadband than the majority of home broadband, and you have ridiculously low caps. I typically get 30-75ms ping with 4G LTE, whereas my Comcast cable I get around 15-30ms.
 
Lets not forget unless you are grandfathered in to a unlimited data plan that with broad band services we do not have limit's to our data. So where as the LTE service is nice but broadband is unlimited.

Well, not comparing data plans, comparing speed.

And sorry I havent yet uploaded an LTE speed test, been busy and when I do get time Im usually not in an LTE area :p So for now we can go off of WRXs statement.
