4GB on Vista x64

I think you should be fine since you have the 64bit version. There might be a problem with the 32bit OS since 4gb is the maximum.
 
I don't have it yet... I've heard there was something you had to do, but I wasn't too sure...

The max for a 32bit OS is 3.25 I thinik...
 
I believe it takes into account how much video ram you have. If you have 512mb of video ram than you can only have 3.5 GB of System RAM.
 
Like most people say, 4gb on vista is like 2gb on XP...

I havn't actually used up all the 2gb at one time on mine, unless you are major multitasking like running multiple games or something
 
I don't think it would be too much, but at the moment 2gb is fine.. i plan on upgrading to 4 sometime around january... The only time you would see sluggish is if you have a game running and want to minimize.. maybe
 
At the moment I'm running 4 gigs of ram on Vista Home Premium 64 bit and no problems. I know that in order to get my pc to boot I had to start with 2 gigs and set everything in my Bios up, then install all my drivers and updates. After that I added the extra 2 gigs and everything is fine. I am however dual booting with XP Pro simply because some of my older games won't work with Vista . When I using XP it sees my memory as 3.25 gigs. Hope this info is useful.

Yea? I just shoved all 4gb of mine in and it worked.
 
I heard about some patch for 4gb as well. This is just downloaded by Windows as an update. Nothing to worry about.
 
Thanks for the help guys, I don't have Vista yet so...

But should I have all 4GB in first and then install Vista, or install it, get all the updates and then put it in?
 
I think the 4gb thing with Vista 64 was just a few chipsets, and had a weird bios settings that would not let you install it or run with more than 2 gbs. Think the patch just works after you have installed the OS with 2gbs. But I think its just a few chipsets that it does it on.
