5.25

i have a 1996 com.i don't have a brand but i do know it has an ami motherboard windows 98se . am trying to install a 5.25 floppy .i keep getting the messages there is no disk in drive ,disk in drive b is not formatted would you like to format it,disk cann't be formatted .am i doing something wrong?:confused:

90% of the 5.25 drives I've worked with only allow the cable to be connected one way :P

Are you sure the disks are still good? Those had a problem with corrupt data. Many of my disks failed rather early on, which reminds me of the backups I need to do...

Anyway, you also have to setup jumpers on the drives just like IDE drives. However, it'd probably be just as easy to set one drive up at a time rather than fooling with the jumper. Most, as I remember, were fairly confusing.

OOOH, and one last thing that hit me. Be sure the disks are compatable with the drive. 360KB floppy drives are fairly common. You might have a 1.2MB disk but a 360KB drive...
 
I tryed The Cable Both Ways,yes The Drive Works Fine They Are Bran New Floppys It's A 1.2 There Is 9 Jumpers Witch Ones? They Are Marked Tm,dso,ds1, Ds2,ds3,iu.and Thelast 3 Are Not Marked.?
