5 year old monitor..... should I replace?

As far as i'm aware the technology behind monitors hasn't improved very much.

My old one is one of the large chunky ones, but it a high quality one and is still working perfectly, so I might as well keep it till it breaks, right?

Any idea how I can check what resolution it can go up to?

Cheers, Blue

Replacing your monitor depends on you. Do you want to get a new large monitor or not?? Is it useful for you?? Will it be better for your work?? That's totally your call.

You can check the max resolution that you can go for by right clicking on the desktop and choosing properties, and then choosing the settings tab. At the bottom, you will find a scroller in which you can change the resolution. Drag it to the right side to see what is your max resolution.

Normally, if you are working on a 14" monitor, you won't be able to acheive resolution above 1024x768.

Ya I think this is better even if it's an old one. Nothing new in the monitors technology as you said except the LCD ones. The advancements is not like the processors or other stuff.

I'm using a quite old 19" monitor, and it works GREAT. No reason getting another one until it breaks. :)
