So my parents asked me to build them a pc for about 500 bucks. My dad wants to play new games on it. He has 19"lcd so he will be playing at 1280x1024. This is first time i decided to give amd a shot since they are cheap and perform well. Here's what I've come up with so far. Any suggestions are welcome :)

CPU: Phenom II X3 710

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P

RAM: OCZ Gold 4GB DDR3 1066

GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850

PSU: OCZ ModXStream 500W

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 160GB

Case: Antec Three Hundred

Total comes to $510. Also there is new Athlon II X4 for 99 bucks but it doesn't have any L3 cache. Do you think i should pick that up over X3 710 with 6MB of L3 cache? I believe 3 cores + 6mb of l3 cache > 4 cores + none cache, especially in games because that's all this pc will be used for. What do you think sirs?

You're in Chicago. If you can find a 710 at Frys - they're sellin for 49 bucks - and the antec 300 is selling for 39.99 tool

Could knock 70 bucks off your build if they have everything in stock.

Holy Potatoes! Looks like I am going to Downers Grove today :)

EDIT: Nevermind, just gave them a call and they are all sold out :(
