512 kbps net speed

I am buying a new laptop , and i willl use 512 kbps net connection in the new laptop , i want to know what should be the minimum configuration to effectively use the 512 kbps net connection.

the most effective configuration? huh? um the most effective i find is first plugging the cord into the back of your computer then turning the computer on.

I can help one..... use AVG 8.0 for virus protection. NO LIMEWIRE!!!! and use Firefox as browser.

Hardware configuration? For internet browsing, specs don't really matter (as long as it's a post-2000 computer comp we're talking about) as long as you have everything to connect to the net... if you're talking about software, I'll let someone else help...

why no limewire? i have never got a virus from it. you can tell which files are viruses and which are not.
