512mb Diamond HD3850 for 22" widescreen?

I am putting together a budget computer, and have only the GPU to decide on. I am using a 22" widescreen LCD @ 1680x1050. How future proof will this setup be for the latest games (next 3-4 years). I would like to be able to play just about everything but Crysis on High (not max) settings. Am I giving up anything by buying the Diamond brand vs. other 512mb 3850's? Should I instead spend more on a 3870 or 8800?

Im running the 3870 @ 1680/1050. I can play Crysis on high, i would imagine the 3850 should do medium no problem. For the price of the 3870, i would highly recommend it. Its not a whole lot more than the 3850, but for what price difference there is, its worth it. But the 3850 would do you fine. As far as "future" proof goes, its hard to say. But obviously the more you spend the little longer your going to get out of it.

For the brand, it doesn't really matter. I just prefer Sapphire and Diamond

If I want to get the 3870 (or 8800GT or 3850 for that matter), I will have to buy my computer now ($400 w/o gpu) with a cheap gpu, and save up for the 3870 latter. Which $50-$75 gpu should I get right now to hold me over for a few months?
