54 mbps or 108 mbps

hey guess I just got a 108 mbps dlink router and I am ready to buy a adapter. My internet is has a download speed of 5 mbs per second and I am wondering what speed of a adapter i should get 54 or 108. WHich 1 would be good for my application.
 
you dont need the faster one unless you want to transfer files LOCALY like from computer to computer in your network, else it will not help at all
 
What brian said, it's not going to change your internet browsing or download speed. Only if you're going to have a home network where you'll be sharing files should you consider 108mbps or even Wireless N.
 
Just to reiterate what others have said, you only need to go for the 108Mbps version if you plan on transferring files over your network. If it's just for wireless internet, then the 54Mbps is fine.
