Got my vid card yesterday and started the install once all done the cards fan fire up but no signal to the monitor I can hear the system booting up.. Pretty straight forward install. what the heck.. anything I might have overlooked?

are you sure that you installed both 6 pin power adapters?
Also, check that you have it installed in the top most PCIe slot.
Last thing, if you have onboard video, it may be worth while to try it and see if there is an option in your BIOS to allow output via a GFX card.

Ok, I will check my bios. It is in the primary slot Ijust removed my card from that slot and did install the two PCI express pins

if you had a card in there, then your BIOS is already set.

Did you try the card you removed to see if it would still work? It could be a motherboard or PSU issue.

Wolfeking, im asking a question. Why is important to install in the top most PCIe slot. ive seen it mentioned before. I would think they would all work the same way. does this have to do with priority on the 1st slot or something.
don't know.

some slots, I am assuming, need to be occupied before the bottom slots will work. At least that is how it was in my PCI slots on an HP. I had to occupy slot 1 before slot 2 would operate.

On the performance side, it is guaranteed to be x16, instead of x8 or x4 that the second, third and so on have.

I am guessing there. I have been told top slot, and that is what seems to work, so I never questioned it.

On a fair majority of motherboards, the top most slot is the only full-speed x16 slot. The second and third are more often only x8 and x4 and have less pins inside the plastic slot. So it's a matter of performance, really. Of course it'll work in any other slot.

ok, I feel like I should be on the short bus today... My old card GTX 285 had two pin connectors, so I unplugged those and kept connecting them to the new card... Hello old connectors are six pin new card needs 8 pin.. Guys thanks for the feedback and help..

If I may ask, what brand and model of PSU is it? Only asking because I hate it when people expensive video cards and cheap out on a PSU :(
