5870 or not?

Im looking to get a new video card, and I've been looking at the Radeon HD 5870's that just came out. They pretty much blow every card out of the water, except the 5970s. So im thinking i should get one of them. Or would it be better to SLI 2 cards or are there any cards on the market cheaper or the same price as the 5870s that are better? Right now I have an XFX GeForce GTX 260 Core 216, and the vista 64 bit drivers are absolutely terrible.

Im looking to run Modern Warfare 1 and 2 as well as crysis and other games at a decent amount of FPS.

So help me out!

Thanks

PS: i have the corsair tx650w power supply and the EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW Edition motherboard.

5870 fits your needs, and SLI/Crossfire is too expensive to be of any real advantage. How many PCI-E power connectors does the TX 650 have? i think you need two for the 5870

The GTX 260 can max out both Modern Warfare games. I'm not sure if it's the best use of money. If you really want to spend the money then the 5870 is a great card. However, unless you really want to max out Crysis, then the GTX 260 should still serve the purpose.

By the way, what's the specification for the rest of the system?

Okay, I have some new options...

Ive been looking at some different cards, they are all nvidia.
Im going to stay away from ATI seeing as though my motherboard only supports SLI, and SLI is what I am looking to do. Ive came to the decision that I want to get a GTX 285 and SLI it, and im trying to decide on which card i should get, the Classified Edition or the SuperClocked Edition. I will also be buying a new power supply, preferably this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171033 .

So which card should I buy? I need to stay between $500-$600, and this looks like my best option, and after this, I never plan on upgrading my video cards again.

OR. if you can find another useful way to spend my money to get more of a performance increase on my system, feel free to post it.

Upon request, here is my CURRENT system.

EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW Edition Motherboard
XFX GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR2-1066 (running at ddr2-800)
Samsung 320GB Hard Drive
Windows Vista Home Premium x64 bit
22" monitor (1680 x 1050)
Plenty of cooling, no worries..
Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6600
XIGMATEK Dark Knight CPU Cooler, (runs at 18*C on idle)
Corsair TX650W Power Supply

Oh, and by the way, I planned on buying the GTX 285 BEFORE Christmas, and then asking for ANOTHER ONE and the power supply for christmas. Remember that :D

Thank you so much!

Why sli? SLI/CF are a big waste of money. One higher end card is always better than two lower end cards.

Get the 5870

It will prob be the last vid card you will need to buy for 6yrs or so
