5970 usage help fast please !!!!

Hello i have a asus 5970 2gb black edition. And i had a bit low fps in some games. And i started to search for a problem. And i came up with that the GPU is only using 60% of its beastly power when i play games.

When i play a game and press alt+tab then the gpu usage is only on 60% on both the gpu:s and when i wait a sec or two it keep going up to reach 95%..and then when i click back into the game and play for 10 mins and then alt+tab again its on 60% again. So its not using all the power.. thats what is causing the low fps.

Help me please i need to make it go 100% or atleast 95% when gaming.

Specs:

windows 7 64bit ultimate
amd 955 quad core 3.8ghz
ati asus 5970 2gb black edition 900mhz OC
8gb ram ddr2
gigabyte ma770-UD3 rev 2.0
 
Bad company 2 atm. Havent tryed any other games because i just reinstalled comp so i am downloading them again from steam. Its not the drivers tryed a bunch of different :)
 
What resolution, what settings (AA and AF)

I don't know if you can even use 100% of a 5970 while gaming, that'd be pretty tough. You'd have to be running like 2560x1600 with 8x/8x or higher AA/AF to get 100% usage.
 
1920x1200 maxed settings. Well 80-120fps but on some maps like panamal canal and arica harbor it drops to like 45-50 lot of times..and thats not acceptable for a card worth 600 dollars..
 
does it just drop to that for a couple seconds or does it stay there?

EDIT: also, have you tried the 10.4 drivers? supposedly those are the best for the 5970.

EDIT 2: do you also have the latest patches installed?

I never tried the 10.4, but I know the 10.3 worked the best with my 5830.


Also, what do you mean by maxxed settings? Are you getting any lag?
 
what do you mean by "shall be?" it is or it should be?

you should be getting roughly 100 or so with those settings on that monitor. but it probably is normal for it to go down slightly during intense scenes.
 
I mean it should be but it isnt..well i dont have 100fps+ because stil the gpus only uses 60% so need help with that..Well the drops are more then just slighly. 45-50fps isnt good at all with my card.. It shall and then i mean others say that it wont drop under 65fps but mine does.... HELP !

what kind of cpu usage are you getting?
 
It could just be that the drivers are still early....and BC2 does not run very well on alot of systems atm.

have you tried other games? how doe it perform in those?
