I want to upgrade to a sata 3.0 .I don't relly know much about what to look for in HDs.Except the size,GB size,& rpm speed. If I can run a sata, can I still run the old HD with it?I got the storage room for a 2nd hd,but don't know how they would act being 2 different types running together.

These are the HDs im looking at right now:

Ok now I know I can't run both. And now know I need to get a IDE to SATA converter adapter.
What is a good quailty adapter?I noticed alot are junk from reviews I read.
What would the adapter & a sata cable run me?
Which of the hdds I listed would you reccomend?

for $60 go with the seagate, its all I use and never had a problem

Same here,Id choose the Seagate too.

Ive had a 400GB WD Black Fail on me,A Samsung 1TB fail aswell.

This may sound like im a fanboy or something,But ive never had any Seagates fail on me yet,my 120GB IDE drive is pushing 5 years nearly and still going strong.:)

Im going to get the seagate.
Found this card adapter for $9 and comes with a sata cable.

Will it work right?I feel like a dumb beep asking, but how do I hook it up?
Do I just plug the sata cable to one on the card, then other end to sata cable to hdd & plug a p4power plug to the hd?Or do I do that, then have to plug the slave IDE ribbon to the card?I don't have a jumper.

I just want to make sure everything is the right size, have all the hookups,& hooked up correctly. From how I am looking at it,I can run both hdds.Correct me if im wrong.
