$600 AUD budget for new gfx card(s)

Hey guys, interested in opinions for new graphics card(s) for Battlefield 3. I currently get between 17 - 45FPS (shit) on the Beta with 11.9 drivers. I know they'll get better and the game will be slightly more optimised, however I want 60FPS min.

Clearly a GTX580 I am considering, however at 1900 x 1080, is it better in your opinions to get:

  1. 1 x GTX580 3GB and consider another in time
  2. 2 x GTX 570s now
  3. Crossfire AMD solutions
  4. 1 x AMD solution

Suggestions welcome, cheers :D

I would say 580. I get about 30-40 fps in battlefield 3 with my little dual core at 100% load. My GPU load was around 30-40% at 50c with my 570, so I would say a 580 would be the best choice, with the option to get two cards in the future, of course.

Should be noted that Ultra on beta isn't ultra on full release, it is still trimmed down.

I would, however, still take the 580

i say, even though i doubt you'll read this, go 580 so you have the more dependable drivers over sli and crossfired ones, and then it's still the fastest card without paying out the a$$, which it is a little of that too but not as much as the 590 or 6990

Thanks guys, it appears we have a new moniker, "does it run BF3"

I decided to get 2 x 580s.

2 GTX 580s :gun:
I would suggest getting one first, and if you still are not able to max it out with a decent FPS then pump another one in there.

if 1 580 can't max it with good settings then idk wtf is wrong with your system, cuz that's just messed up :P

For 3 monitors, I think you made a good choice with two 580's. A third would probably help!! :D Anyway which particular 580's did you get?

I know I mentioned 1900 x 1080 in the OP, however I chose to somewhat future proof. I got the Gigabyte 3GB versions.
