64Bit or Dual?

the dual core one you picked out should be 64bit anyways
Only the 2nd link is 64-bit.

Again, dont go with the Intel Dual-Cores, go with the AMD X2 3800+ or 4200+. They outperform intel at virtually any task you can throw at it. And it will excel greatly at gaming.

Which would be better out of the 2?

Yes I know, AMD is probably better for gaming but I’m an Intel fan so I’m trying to stick with them.
but if the AMD beats it by far I consider getting that one but I like that GA-G1975X motherboard too.
Its like I hate holdens but there is nothing wrong with them their good cars but you *know the feeling*

I used to be in Intel fan as well, but the fact is that the Pentium D or Pentium EE cant beat the AMD X2 series cpu's. If you dont want to spend much money, go with the 3800+, but if money really isnt an issue go with the 4200+.

they have a 4800+ but what about my mobo that gigabyte was nice and fast I like the disgn>
is there an AMD board as fast with good disgn as the gigabyte one?

what's wrong with something like this? I mean if you're going dual core you should be doing it for things other than gaming, in which case the 4mb L2 and 64 bit support, not to mention much lower price really make this look like a good choice in my opinion. But like geoff said, AMD has the gaming edge

well, remember back at a thread showing some benchmarks comparing x2 and PD's...the X2's absolutely destroyed the PD's in every test. So there really isn't anything wrong with it, but it just won't out perform the X2 according to the benchmarks.

The X2 Series would outperform that at anything; gaming, video encoding, image editing, audio rendering, ect.

Will you notice the difference when you have SLI 7800gtx with 2 gig pc6400 OCZ platinum 4-3-3 on a 975X chipset?

I possibly will get the amd Athlon64 x2 4400 BUT only if I can find a fast board that has equivalent 975X chipset and supports ddr2 800mhz like this good one http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-G1975X.htm

I’m hooked on this board for some reason

Honestly in which way would it be better for games? would you notice it? and where?

I get confused with the speeds these days I used to compare everything to Pentiums between 1 to 2.4gig I new how well they performed.
But now with dual core, 64bit, hyper threading etc. I don’t know much about performances of these new chips.

intels are always more expensive just because theyve got so much more marketing power and influence over amd.
Please check your numbers before posting :)

At almost 6000 posts, dont pull a fanboy streak on me.
