64GB Stick won't boot

Hi,

i got a new 64GB USB3 stick. On my Laptop (Lenovo T400) it works and I installed linux on it. It also boots the laptop successfully to linux.

On my desktop PC, it doesn't even appear in the boot device list. On windows, it's sometimes detected as "unknown device". Sometimes it's successfully recognized as flash drive. This one is a ASUS board with Core i7 920.

What's the issue here?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back into another slot. If that doesn't work, open Device Manager and right click "Unknown Device" (make sure the USB stick is the unknown device) and click uninstall. Reboot, and wait for Windows to install the driver again.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's now working in windows, but the main issue is that it won't boot. Is the stick or the mainboard the issue here? Can I do anything about it?

On my laptop, yes. I never had any problems with the stick there.

On my pc, no. It's not even listed in the boot device list.
My PC's mainboard is a ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6T DELUXE V2 (LGA1366)

Did you plug into another slot? It also could have to do with it being USB 3. Try updating the BIOS.
