Someone asked me today, What kind of PSU would I need if I were to run a 6600GT, I would like to know as well, wattage, amps of 12V rail and so on.

Thanks

*Edit*
One more thing, would it run on a P4 2.4, 1 Gig RAM, WD Caviar 80gb w/ an Antec TP350W?

it says on the box of my 6600gt that the recommended wattage is 450w. but it doesnt what the ampage on the 12v rail is, although i would assume, the more the merrier

it should, i had a p4 3ghz 512mb, 120gb, 9600se with 2 burners running on a 350w i guess make sure you get a decent psu. :P

Thanks for the help kof, and just one more question for you, I need a suggestion on a video card, between the 6600GT and the 6800 (not GT), any ideas?

I have a 6600 GT with a P4 2.66 Ghz, 1 GB of DDR mem, and a 450 w PSU. I do have to comment though that my 6600 cannot run very well on my CPU and the fact that my CPU is a tad bit larger I would recomend on buying a new CPU first. . . thats what I would have done if I would have known that I was going to run into these problems.I dont know maybe I have a bad prcoessor cuz 2.66 isnt really that bad, but if you are going to have the same problems as I had and if your not going to buy a new CPU then i would have to say get the 6600 becuz the 6800 is even bigger and might run slower, if any of this info is wrong can you guys lemme know? lol aight there ya go bro hope that was useful

the 6600gt has GDDR3 and is more overclockable
the 6800 has DDR, but can be unlocked to 16pipes, which doesn't really help it by much. But in games, the 6800 backed by benchmarks are better.
ROger

I run the system in my sig on a 300 watt PSU with 13amps on the +12v, I lucked out and it worked, but I wouldn't promise the same results for you. I'm upgrading to a64 within the next week and I'm switching up to a 350watt antec smartpower, I'll see how that handles it and post.

Aim for 24A on the 12 volt rail as a minimum to be safe, so check the specs on the TruePower.

There ain't no better options inbetween them really, well you have the 6800LE but it's basically on par with the 6600GT, the 6800 is slightly faster than the 6600GT especially when you go higher than 1024x768.

Whatever issues you may experience isn't CPU related.

6800 i remember you can unlock the pipes or something of a 6800gt.
Correct, the 6800 is a GT card, but with lower clock speeds and locked pipes. (12 instead of 16)
