6600gt a safe overclock setting

I have a PNY 6600gt AGP 8x whats an overclock setting i can use that is safe. I am new to overclocking i was juss looking through the internet and found out how to open coolbits. stock on 3d is 500/900 when i press use optimal its goes up to like 565/1.02 what do u recommend it on without problems. what are some pros and cons to overclocking??

i wouldnt go higher than 535 or 950. pros are they run faster and cons are they produce more heat you need more cooling for it and it might wear it out faster cut its lifespan in half or faster if theres too much heat
 
dont save the optimal settings. They nearly always go over what teh car will handle heat wise. And thats another thing, every overclock, CHECK TEMPS :)

How do i check temps and whats a safe temp for it to be at??
 
Hmm

A good way to check for temperatures is RIVATUNER. It's great for overclocking as well. I have my card at 560/1150. You should be able to safely go up to 550/1100 on your card. However, as mentioned before, make sure your cooling is good.

ive had mine at 575 / 1150 for some time now. i haven't checked the temps to be honest but ive had no indication that they're high.
