6600GT AGP vs. X700 Pro AGP

Ok, so I can get either the 6600GT 128MB(AGP) which outperforms the X700 Pro(AGP) by a bit or get the X700 Pro which has 256MB ram. The 6600GT only costs $10 more, but I'm not sure if it would be smart to go with a card with only 128MB ram. Which one should I get, or which is better choice?

The 6600GT is a better choice if you do not go past resolutions in gameplay past maybe 1280x960 (1280x1024 for LCD). If you want to go higher (which both cards would perform poorly at) then the X700 Pro is better.

get the 6600GT it has higher clockspeeds and ive seen benchmarks where the 6600 GT beats the X700 at most of the benchmarks.

Really? Why? I was just looking at the specs and even compared to the x700pro the 6600 GT looks a decent amount better. At least if you arent comparing price. Am i missing something about the x700pro?

We can easily see from these quick tests that the 6600GT holds a pretty consistent performance advantage over the X700, even in Half-Life 2. The only title in which the X700 leads is Unreal Tournament 2004.

The 6600 GT won 4 out of 5 tests. So why did fade2green514 say get x700pro?

Must have been mistaking, but the 6600gt is better than the x700pro. The x700pro only beat the 6600gt in the UT test, and only by a few FPS.

Thanks for the comments, but I had to go with the X700 Pro in the end. The store was out of 6600GT's so I just decided not to get it.

$160 CAD which is quite good since its usually around $300 at Futureshop but it was boxing day sale.

I would go with the nVidia, their cards are soo much better, IMO

He already got the card....and that is compelete fanboy coment, although i'll add to it, you just picked up a DEVIL card!
