6600GT or 6800

returned my 7800GTX for cash, and am looking for a slightly less powerful videocard untill the 512MB 7800 comes out.... the 6600GT has better clocks then the regular 6800 and the 6600GT is cheaper then the 6800.... but would the 6800 be a better pick in AGP?
 
the 6800 is better.
because you can try to unlock the 6800 to a 6800GT. :)
also.. you can overclock the 6800, wich would give him a better performance.
 
Yes the 6800 is better just from teh start and like arch said, then u can unlock and overclock ,but to be honest the new 7800 will be out very soon, so if i were u go fro the cheapest of the two, since ur getting better and u dont have to live with the card for very long. You dont have another card laying around u can just pop in there, if i werre in teh situation u were in id go for the cheapest i can find and deal for a a little while.
 
well i have a 6600 right now, its not bad, but i want to upgrade without the $300+ graphics card, cause im saving up for SLI 7800GTX "Ultra"s
 
Well if i were you i'd get a better cpu then 2 7800gtx "ultras", lol

The 6800 is bettern then the 6600gt, but if you have the 6600 now and will be getting the 7800 ultra when it comes out, i woulnt waste money on getting a card thats not that much better.
 
Hmmm

Is it just me who thinks that the 6800 (Non-GT, Non-Ultra) is not more powerful than the 6600GT. I am talking without it being unlocked and stuff. I remember reading a comparison where the 6600GT was actually better.

but i wont have money for it for awhile, and im not buying just one, ill buy two in a pack which is gonna be costly..... i traded in my 7800GTx for some more Cash to go for the SLI Ultras, but im not gonna be satisfied with just a 6600 till i can get another $1200 for the two ultras

yeah, thats why im looking for a cheap card thats better then my lil 6600... even if its the 6600GT because its much better then the 6600.... thoes cards are gonna burn a huuuuge hole in my pocket
 
Why are you even going to buy 2x ultras for $1200? by the time you'll need those to run the game they will only cost about $500. lol

sorry to sound criticle but that sounds like the biggest waste of ~180 dollars...If it was up to be i'd just suffer a few months with the 6600 and then get the 2 "ultras".
