Some are going to say it's a software problem but I dont believe so. I've just purchased a new system with an eVGA 6800GT and when I installed Farcry (Demo) I could not help but notice how ugly the water was (light blue, no reflection) I thought it might have been a driver issue but then I installed Generals Command and Conquer and the same thing with the water (Light blue and ugly).

Oh yes I'm currently using Forceware 61.77 from Nvidias download page and I tried a previous driver version (cannot remmeber what one) but with the same results. I've ruled out my monitor so it's not that.

Could It be somthing as simple as a setting? in game settings are all set to high and I've tried the water quality setting in Farcry on all settings.

I dont think the problem is because it's the demo of farcry because I played it on my last system with my Radeon 9600Pro card and it look great and other games with water in it (command and conquer generals) looks very much the same.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Could be a disabled texture feature in the video driver. Try changing some 3D and OpenGL settings (Advanced tab on display properties / settings).
 
I guess I should also mention that i'm using direct X 9.0c and my graphics cards settings are default (quality) setting.
 
I've tried just about everything I think but nothing :-( it just looks terrible! yet everything else looks great.

I gotta ask: did you turn the details up? .. ok I see you have nvm. Try turning the details DOWN, playing, exiting and going back and turning them back UP

Did you clean out the ATI stuff before/when you installed the 6800GT?

Makes no difference really :)
 
Ya I've tried the details up and down and each at every possible different setting just about.

The ATi drivers arent of concern to me because I've reformated (brand new machine).

It's real strange because everything looks so good but the water which is just terrible! I've noticed that the corel texture in the water is also blue and the only thing whith any natural color in the water is the sand as the fish are all the same color blue LOL.

I also play Generals zero hour and the color for the water on that game is screwy as well. I know there really is no comparison between the two but it was an observation. My monitor is working great and color corrected as always so I'm stumped.
