Hi i own an EVGA 7800GT and have been planning on going SLI, now when the time comes to upgrade these cards are virtualy non existant bar the odd one on e-bay, does any one know where i may be able to pick one of these up from, or would any 7800gt work, or am i going to have to start from scratch here!

Chears mate but im from the uk and they dont seem to post oversees, thanxs anyway though, i should have specified!

There is 1 left on ebuyer, here.

They're hard to find cos the 7900gt's the same hardware-wise, but for running cooler under a same load; this is because they're manufactured on a 90nm process, rather than the 7800's 110nm. So, you'll find 7900gt's clocked higher than their older brother, the 7800gt.

I would say go sli with another 7800gt if you can get one, because nvidia are currently developing their G80 core, so when the time comes to upgrade, you can either get 7900gt's at a lower price than they are now, or get nvidia's/ati's newest card.

And if he get's a 7900GT, he misses out on DX10. Cause G80 is supposed to support DX10, and I don't think he'll want to keep buying cards "every" month. I think you'll be fine with a GF7800GT for a while.

I would strongly suggest the 7900GT over the 7800GT. The 7900GT, besides having 4 extra pixelpipelines, has higher clocks. It is a much better card, as it out performs even the 7800GTX in some tests.

I suggest to sell your 7800GT, buy 7900GT and sell it again next fall or spring...And buy whatever G80 core card there is.. 8000GT/x.. Or is it 8200 something..

ah yes that does ansew my question, i think i will just go out and buy a cheep 7800gt from x company and give it a whirl!

chears mate
