7800gt Vs 7800gtx

I am pondering over which card to get. I really want to run SLI but do not want to spen over a thousand dollars. Is there a huge performance difference between the two models (Clock speeds, Pipelines 20 VS 24, etc.)???

Or does one 7800gtx 512Mb perform better than 2 256Mb cards In SLI??
 
Wow... dual core 7800... but really... a 7800 gt alone can run pretty much any game on high resolutions, etc. without much problem without OCing and now a dual core? jeez... how much? better have deep pockets right?
 
The dual core is actually 2 GPU's on 1 card. I have a post for this under Dual Core Video cards. I believe only 2000 of these cards will be produced.

id go with one 7800GTX 512mb. i checked some benchmarks where a SLI 7800GT did only a few fps better and they were in the 100fps range. and you have the option of always SLI'ing that 7800gtx 512mb later on when its cheaper.
