Ok so i have a stock psu at 350 watts with a 12v rail of 19 amps do u think that a 7900 gs can run with that or em i looking at a mandatory upgrade?

1 7900gs will use about 200 watts at peak, so if everything else in your computer uses less than 150 watts your fine :P

i mean if you had a core 2 duo, and like 1 stick of memory and 1 hard drive... maybe, but its a fat chance...i would say 450 watt or more for that card just to be safe

yep im made out of money....

no seriously, my system is

amd 4200 +
1.5 gb kingston ram
Asus Amberine M

thats about it, i mean in the requirements of the card it says 350 minimum and 20 amps....

No contradiction. The 7900GS & GT draw just under 50W @ peak load. The X800XT draws just under 60W. The Extreme PSU Calculator has a habit of overrating power requirements. nVidia's recommendations are also something of a worst case scenario, assuming you're using a relatively poor quality PSU.

I'd need to know the brand and model of the PSU to give you a more complete answer, but if you're running an X800XT without problems, you should also be able to run a 7900GS without problems. Frankly, given that you're only 1A below the official recommendation, I doubt you'd have any problems unless your PSU is seriously overrated.

sO

i doublec checked my psu and it says its 300 watts....

u guys think it will still run i mean im running an ati x800xt (pci-e)

Liteon make very good PSUs, they're much better than most people given them credit for.

You're pushing it a little, but I don't think you'll have any problems.

hmmm

so i should be alright, umm ive also considered that supposedly because i can run an ati x800xt i should be able to run 7900gs, in many websites it clearly states that the 7900 gs is a very power efficient card.

well good news, i bought an xfx 7900 gs xxx for about 139.99 CND $ :) . I hooked it up and it's been running perfectly, i don't see any signs of lack of power. Just a question, i ran everest ultimate and it says my GPU runs at about 50-55 Celsius idle, and 55-70- Max Load. Is this ok? Also seeing this i remember somewhere in ati tray tools once i saw that my ati x800xt ran at about 96 Celsius under load! Maybe that's why it got owned?

im running to of these, 3 hard drives, 2 exhaust fans, 2 x 12cm fans 1 cd rom drive and a gig of dual channel ram on a 550w psu and dont have many issues, apart from lack of molex connectors

well it was like an assumption that it was 350 watts, it was really 300 and it runs fine. Now i'm kinda worried cause of the temp, in everest ultimate is says something is reaching a max of 72 C, and i think it's my gpu, should i just stick another fan in there? or is that an alright temp?
