7900gt OC prob.

ok, so i went to overclock my gpu and used the Detect Optimal Frequencies and
right when it starts to test for optimal frequencies artifacts just start appearing all over my screen almost instantly and i was wondering does this normally happen? during the test my card only hit bout 55c so im wondering what might be the problem.
 
Most likely your memory cannot support any OC'ing. Kind of rare but could be just your memory. Post a screenshot?
 
yea, well i went to take a screenshot but when i went to do it again the screen would go black then normal again everytime i clicked on my mouse. doesnt really matter cuz my comp works just fine w/o any oc'ing, just was woundering why it was doin that when i tried to.
