hey i just got a EVGA 7950 GT but i dont have the 6 pin connecter to plug it into the PSU so i just left it unplugged. this is only temp until i pick an adapter up but i was wondering how safe it is to do that. every time i start my comp now i get this message:

"To protect your hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations."

So i figure its safe. but i launch CounterStrike : Source and i get fine FPS which was kinda suprising to me, i dunno if i will get more fps if i plug it into the PSU but its seems ok right now. anyways let me know what you guys think. thx.

you will get better fps if u plug the 6pin in into the gpu and psu as it gave u the warning

Um... try to get hold of the 6 pin convertors that would change the 6 pin to 2x 4 pin connectors.

yup im lookin atm, im gonna check out a local store but if they dont have it i know someone online who will ship one to me, so its just a matter of time

My concern though is that i checked the clockspeeds on GPU-Z and they are stock, (549) (702). so if it didnt downclock what is it doing to consume less power? or is GPU-Z just not showing the downclock?
