The 8800GTS is alot better, both now and when DX10 is out. There really is no reason to buy a DX9 card anymore if you have that much to spend on one.

*sees ATI fanboy*
sighfart

i am neutral and want the best parts no matter what, i cant wait to see the performance ATI packs in but nvidia might come out with 8900 as a surprise, who knows? and if the 8 series prices drop a ton and are close in performance to ATI then ill go nvidia. cant wait to see

i just picked up 2 bfg 8800 gts cards from fry's for $550 each...they are 640meg verions..you could get one of those...and though not a selling point, you get a free t shirt in the box

lol... to get an 8800GTX right now is pointless, to get a 640MB GTS is pointless... the X2800XTX is going to drop the prices on all of that shit plus it in its self will be better

It probably will, but the G80 cards right now are pretty reasonable for the lower end ones, such as the 320MB 8800GTS for around $275.

The X2K series holds the speed crown now, but that is to be expected as the 8800 was out way before the R600, it will be very interesting to see how nvidia responds.
