I need a little persuasion here, I currently have an ATi HD2900XT, which is very good but I seem to be having problems with it, I have tried a Cooler Master Real Power 750Watt PSU, and the card doesn't report the claimed speeds. When I have One PCIe connector plugged in to the card, I get a warning that the card will be running in safe mode, at lower clock rates...Fine, I check the clock rates, in the Catalyst Control Centre: Core - 501Mhz(supposed to be 740ish Mhz), Memory - 514Mhz (supposed to be 1000Mhz). When I plug in the second PCIe connector, I don't get that power warning. In the Catalyst Control Centre, the clock rates are exactly the same. Also with one or 2 connectors I get the exact same 3dMark scores, on 05 and 06.

I am getting decent enough scores though. On 05 I'm getting about 14800pts, and on 06 I'm getting about 10000pts. Is their anyone with a similar system who is getting similar results on 3dmark? Are these normal scores for this card? If not is there any way of repairing a Viideo Card? I heard of the /possiblity of flashing a cards BIOS, is this true, does/can it work?

The persuasion part of this link is that, I have contacted the guy I originally bought the card from, and he is willing to buy it back from me for R1700(South African Rands), and there is another guy selling an Nvidia 7950GX2 1Gb card for R1400. So basically, with the change I could just about buy the Cooler Master Duo Viva for about R350. Is the 7950GX2 any good with today's games, and how will this older card deal with future titles, and newer technologies, compared to the ATi?

Basically I'm asking whether I should keep the ATi, or go for the GX2 and possibly A Duo Viva with the change?

Thanks, both of you. I was going to do the sale and purchase today, had you not offered your oodles of wisdom.

The 2900XT would be the best choice out of those two, as it also supports DX10.

Now why are you getting the more expensive 2900XT and now the 3870?

Ya I am keeping the 2900XT, it really is a good card, me thinks, only it is so loud when it gets hot. I'm thinking of Purchasing the Cooler Master Duo Viva, and when I can find one, also get the Cooler Master Glacier 600 for my GPU.
