8-channel Mobo

So I have an 8-channel mobo. I have a 4.1 system (4 speakers, 1 sub). But for some reason only two of my speakers produce any sound. I think the subwoofer is completely excluded as well. Anyone have any idea whats wrong?
 
First off, how is it configured? Are you connected via analog (green, orange, blue, black, etc.) cables, via SPDIF, etc.?

If you are connected via the traditional analog cables, double check to make sure that you have the corresponding cables plugged into the correct ports, they should be color coded. Also check your speaker system and make sure that if applicable, it's set to 4.1 mode (generally located on the rear of the subwoofer).

Hmm.. not too sure. The system has two plugs. A green and a black. I tried lots of different audio ports and none of them really give me the 4.1. The system is ALWAYS in 4.1 mode. I think this MIGHT be a driver issues but not sure how I would fix that if it is. The speakers don't have driver CDs and my motherboard should be up to date. The speakers work perfect on my laptop.
