8 series name change

I remember when the 8 series first came out, it was the 8800GTX and 8800GT, then at some point it switched to 8800GTS. Why was this change initiated? Or did I just misread the GTs?

I really doubt an 8800GT is coming, I think it's 8900GT, 8900GTX, 8950GX2, 8900GS, and I think that's all. I don't think these will come until after the 9800's have came.

The 8800GTS and 8800GTX were the first to come out, they didnt produce an 8800GT.

really? i swear it was all 8800GT's on newegg when it first came out. Then they quickly switched the names to GTS's after a few days.

Nope, I bought an 8800GTS within the first couple weeks it was released, and I never heard anything about it being called an 8800GT. Maybe Newegg just messed up on the descriptions?
