8500 gt problem

i have a mercury pi945gzd mainboard, 1.5 gb ram, a pentium 4 processor.

i have a zebronics make nvidia geforce 8500 gt graphic card. I am using mainboard integrated graphics as of now. The comical part is that in the BIOS it says that it is running using the PCI Express whereas I have not yet inserted it.

As of now I formatted my whole hard disk and have not installed any graphic drivers including the mainboard ones. I switched the computer off and inserted the graphic card in the slot, connected the wire to it and switched the comp on. The fan on the graohic card seems to be spinning. The mainboard starts and so does everything. But the monitor does not switch on. When I remove the card and plug the cord into the mainboard socket, things work fine.

Could anyone highlight me on what the problem is? thanks.

Note - I have not installed the card before. This is the first time I am trying.

zebronics 8500GT....never heard of such a make,It sounds like a realy cheap make and obviusly very low quality.

What Power supply do you have?
It should say on teh side of the Psu.

How long ago did you purchase this card? If you have never tried it before it could be a DOA (Dead on arival).

Its not a very cheap make. But its fine. Again I would not say it is as good as other leading makes.

Dead on arrival? It was working quite some time back. In between I had to disconnect it because I did not want to get distracted. Now I want to plug it in again and its not working.
