8500GT question

ok, don't really know much about GPUs...

what would you suggest for about the $70 range?

wow ! great find nevakonaza, i didnt bother looking at 1900 cards as i thought they were more expensive than that - that is a very good card starwars man

wow........... don't know if I want to go that far. That one would require a decent PSU right?

yeah they are a brilliant price,he will probably need a new psu aswell though as i heard the X1900GT are power hungy:D

well i would go for it at that price...its alot better than a 8500:)

i dont know much about psus, but im sure someoe who does know about them will tell you if you need a new one or not.

what psu have you got?

well, basically my max max price on gpu and psu together would be about $100... ugh, it's just a little too high.

My PSU is something ridiculous, maybe not even 200watt

EDIT: nvm, its 250watt

There is no point buying the 8500gt, just save up fror a bit more and get a 1900 and new psu - the performance gap is huge, a 250 wont cut it for an 8500gt either i wouldtn have thought

I reckon so - there is 18 + 16 A on the 12 V rail, it might be cutting it a bit thin tho , im not too sure how much they require

I have a EVGA e-GeForce 8500 GT. I got it because I don't game much, I like to play Battlefield 2 and things older than that.

It runs BF2 great on medium settings at 1680x1050. On high it will start to lag.

My old power supply was 250W and it worked with that, but I got rid of that thing. It worked while I had it though, for about a week.

That Apevia PSU is a real mixed bag.. I have it running an X1300 and that's the most I will let that PSU touch. I would go Hipro, Ultra, or Antec Basiq.

Thanks a bunch for the help guys, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, right now it looks like I'm not gonna be able to go through with this, I got kind of excited yesterday and didn't take into account that I'm getting a laptop next year and I don't actually have enough time to spend gaming to justify it (at least for right now)..

In the meantime, I think I might go with a cheaper light gaming card... something below $50 and not requiring a new PSU hopefully, so I'm looking into those now.

Thanks again for the help guys!

250? Hmmm... I am not sure if it is enough for the 8500GT. But normally, the 8500GT doesn't requir much.

Just a question, is the 8500GT better then a 6800GT?
