Hello, I have a GeForce 8600 GTS card by EVGA and I am trying to find out if the memory is 256 or 512 (bc I forgot!) but on the directx tool it reports 2288 MB

why does it say that much? and where can I find the real info.

I am running windows 7 beta 64 bit and latest nvidia driver.

thanks

Because windows vista/7 uses some of your ram as virtual gpu frame buffer(doesnt actually take ram away albeit, still there to use for programs if they need it, and there for gpu incase it needs it).

Go into run and type DXDIAG, hit enter. Then click display it should tell you how much memory your video card has.

thanks all who replied, and thanks for GPU Z,,, looks like I have 512MB... I guess I should trust GPU-Z
