What sort of performance increase could be expect going from a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130084 to a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082

I know the 8600 isn't as performant as the 8800, but trying to figure the sort of performance increase I'd get... Also, I am not a hardcore gamer, so that is making me consider the 8600 a little more, but just wondering about what you think.

Edit: Then again, what about a 8600GT such as the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143105

Sorry but EVGA 8600 GTS performed better than BFG's

From 8600 to 8800, the only things that increased was DirectX10 Capability, Pipeline Pixel(Helps when and Graphic organizing), and Bandwidth and such... So the Whole point is that When using Photoshop and such, it will be less laggy when using 8800 GTS than 8600GTS series... I personally rather prefer 8600GTS if you are not hardcore gamer because DirectX10 Generation gaming is far off reach this year

The 8600 can play all games comfortably at this point in time.. Wait till DX10 is here and by that time the 8800gts will likely be cheaper.

I have yet to see games that full utilise DX10 though. I have yet to buy Halo 2, so my comment might when I have tried it.

If you are going to put two 8600s in SLI, then you might as well get one 8800GTX card. Its around the same cost and uses less power.

Yeah, i knew 8800's would still outperform...i didn't think to go and look at the price of 2 8600's (about $380 for 2):P
haha, I never liked the idea of using two lower-end cards in SLI to replace one faster card (ie 2x 7600GS vs a 7950GT).

It isn't.. 50-80% more fps, in general. It does help when you can't afford one BIG card but can afford 2 smaller ones a month or two apart though.
