8600GT on gigabyte 945

I own a gigabyte GA-945GM-S2 mobo with C2D E6300 and 512MB Kingston.Will 8600GT fit in my mobo or not?And how good will be the performance?
 
it will fit your motherboard in the "PCI-e x16" slot on your motherboard, the performance will not be affected by other components graphics wise, but speed of games relies on RAM on processing power, but i assume you have good RAM and processor as this is a DDR2 motherboard.
 
If you have a PCI-E x16 slot, then yes, it will work. Just make sure your power supply can handle it.

But I would upgrade your RAM first, 512MB is barely anything.

Yes it has one PCI-E x16 slot,my power supply is of 500W but not the good brand.

And for RAM i am thinking of getting one more 512 and run it in dual channel which my mobo supports.
