8600gts Driver Problem (I think)

I just got my 8600gts in the mail, and I installed it, and drivers, and everything was working great. Well I want to dual boot vista and linux (ubuntu 7.04, which I've done before) but there's a problem. My screen doesn't turn on until vista loads, so I can't get into the setup menus to change the boot order/safe mode.

What's going on here? Is it a driver problem? Does any have any fixes or even suggestions?

Thanks.

That problem used to happen to me before as well, that is because my CRT was dying.

I can safely say that its not your driver, because in the BIOS stage the driver has not taken control yet, the driver kicks in when you see the vista boot screen and then the log in screen, so its not the driver that's the problem.

It would be a problem with the components themselves, like elitehacker said the CRT. Reseat RAM, check HDD connections, make sure the motherboard is good, no potential shorts, etc.

It could be load order, If you have onboard video. Hook back into onboard, get into the BIOS and disable onboard video, that's most likely the problem IMO.
