8800 Price Drop Speculations

I was flipping through the forum today and had an idea for a nice fluffy thread. With the nVidia 8900-series cards coming out in November, does this mean that the 8800s we've been lusting after will come down a touch? I live in a world where I can never bring myself to spend more than $200USD on a card, so the possibility of these uber cards falling below that mark is tantilizing, if a touch unrealistic.

All said, though, by this summer the 9-series should be out, and that'll probly be the big price dump on things like 8800GTXs and Ultras. The only question will be, how can I fit them into my Antec 900?

Oooh I didn't know that. ATI is also releasing the 2950 series in November. I'm expecting/hoping for a definite price drop, consider that it is also Christmas buying frenzy season.

how long is it typically between direct x versions? im also thinkin of buying an 8800 when the prices drop but i dont want to end up getting screwed by buying a dx10 card and then having dx11 released 3 weeks later

Yeah. Approximately 11 inches long. They barely fit in the 900.

Really? Amazingly to me, I can seem to fit mine in an cheapo ATX case... and it has more than 11" of space..
