8800GT 512mb SLI with 8800GT 1gb

Just get the 512mb version, from what i have seen the 1Gb version performs a tad slower anyway. As well as the 512 will be alot cheaper.

yes it wouldnt be worth it, games currently dont require that much vram, so you will be better off getting another 512mb card.

even if you planned to use the 1gb card singly, it wouldnt be worth it. by the time games actually require that much vram, the chip itself wont be fast enough to run the game :)

Games can us that much RAM on a card, only you'd have to set the settings and resolutions quite high, and an 8800GT won't do all that good on high settings and 2500*1920.

To adress 1024mb of videocard ram, you'd have to have the following:
- Enough SP's to actually process it
- A big enough bus (512bit, or bigger)
- Good frequencies
- Put the settings of the game high enough...
