Got my old 8800GT out the box today to use while i wait for my HD6950 to come (next week sometime)...anyway i put it in,switched the system on and the screens showing artifacts...badly,to the point you cant see anything showing on the screen but bright colours everywhere, then it changes to something else.

Is the card dead?...was working fine last time :/

Try reseating it? What's it like in Safe Mode.

Have you removed your old card's drivers from the machine?

Yeah reseated it,Same problem...i did not uninstall the old drivers no,because i had to have the card out today and posted and did not have time last night to do all that, all i had time to do was get the old card ready...i also cant go into safe mode because i cant see anything but these colours on the screen.
However i dont think thats the problem because its artifacting like mad as soon as i switch it on,Does not even show first boot bios part.

I've never seen artifacts like that with driver issues, the card just died. You could try baking it.

Yeah im assuming its just gone ,Ive looked all over the PCB and cant see anything suspicious...dont know why because it was working fine last i tried it...remember when i tried running it as a Physx card?

I must have zapped it with static or something,Not worth the hastle.

Just have to wait for my new card...hope it comes soon :)

Why not give it a bake?

Preheat oven to ~375f, take off the heatsink, crumple up 4 balls of aluminum foil to suspend the card and set it on a flat tray for ~6 minutes. Pull out the tray and let it cool back down to ambient, put the heatsink back on and give it a whirl.

It's dead anyway, what have you got to lose? I've had a ~90% success rate with 8800/9800gt's with baking.
