Hey I have a 8800gt at stock clocks and lately its been overheating like crazy
so after a bit of investigation I noticed that the fan speed wasnt changing as the temperatures increased
Like I can change my fan speed on rivatuner and in the monitoring I'll see it change from 30% to 100% but the rpm will barely change
so after this i did a clean install of the latest drivers and when i first tested it by putting it through furmark, the rpm went right up to around 2500 as it should and the card temps were manageable.
so then i get into some crysis 2 and its all fine for a bit till my display turns off cus of temps. looks like once the fan speed went down during a loading screen it didnt go back up again. and i still have the same problem through rivatuner. And I've tried changing fans speeds through evga precision too but the results are the same. Also tried monitoring rpm through gpu-z and same results.
I put 2 images of my rivatuner below where you can see the fan speed percent changes but rpm barely does. The one on the left was a better case than usual and the one on the right is the norm
I also included a gpu-z screenshot
