Going to get a new comp in a bit. It will probably have something along the lines of:

Q6600
Some SLI/Crossfire MOBO
2gb ram
650W power

Some of those could change, and i WILL end up doing crossfire/SLI.

Which would be better?

Check out GPUreview.com You can compare GPU's side by side. or it's something like that, just google GPU review if it doesn't work.

Forgot to mention its for gaming (Far Cry 2...*drool*)
Far Cry 2? Go 4850. 8800GT struggles at Crysis and it's pretty outdated card right now, there's no reason to go for any 8800 unless you're on REALLY tight budget,

The 4850 is undoubtedly a superior card to the 8800 GT. The 4850 is more likely to compete with the 9800 GTX and 9800 GTX+.

As others have said, the 4850 is definitely better. The price difference between the 2 is very small so I'd recommend going with 4850 unless you can only afford the GT and no more.

4850 or 4870 it is then. If I sell me wii (no good new games have come out or been announced in the past 6 months) then budget will go up and I'll get a 4870. And im only 14 so my budget it kinda strict. Oh well:o

I recently purchased and am using a 4850 and it is badass. Definitely a worthy upgrade from my 1900xtx.

yea I am getting the 4850 soon hopefully... maybe 4870 if my friends are kind to me and give me lotsa money for my birthday on Saturday... I want the 4870... but I guess the 4850 will beat my onboard 6100 anyday... :> lol.... but so yea also been asking about the difference between the 8800 and the 4850... and I was also told the 4850... Is it just me or does ATI seem to be ALOT! Cheaper than Nvidia... and you get more for the money

Naw, it's not just you. It's pretty much how things are going right now, even though NVIDIA has announced some massive price drops to keep their sales figures from plummeting.

ati are producing some good stuff at the min and the price is all good

i remember when i was trying to get a 8800gt but decided on a 4850 due to everyone on here saying how good they are!! i listened and im happy-saving up for another 4850 crossfire here we come :)

8800gt's are like 40 quid less than the 4850
but 4850's are way better so its worth it.

BUT LETS FACE IT 8800 ULTRAS ARE THE BEST :D
