and down the road a phenom processor.
You think with my existing set-up i'd play newer/higher demanding games ok?
the 9800GT is not better, and the 8800GT is not outdated. dont worry you are fine.
HOWEVER, you are not using dual channel for your RAM - bad
that CPU is not good either
Just got to get the nvidia 750i ftw mobo.
From benchmarking results, the 9800GT seems to be around 1000 marks more than the 8800GT.
Sort of. It is old, alright, but it can max out pretty much any game currently out there, unless you have Crysis chances are about 95% that the card can max out any game you have. It will play any near-future games maxed out or at least at fairly high settings. So, even though it's old, it's still a great performer, but we can't tell you whether that was a bad choice or not until we know how much you paid for it.is the 8800gt outdated?
That CPU is actually very good. Sure it doesn't stack against Intel's high-end offerings all that good, but it's still a great companion for the 8800GT (and any game that card can run).that CPU is not good either
Well if you live in the US, you got pretty much ripped off. You can get a Radeon HD4850 for less from newegg, and that card outperforms the 8800GT by a fairly significant.I purchased it for $169.99, came out to be around $180, but it also came with a $30 dollar mail in rebate i already sent off.
Not necessarily dumb, the 4850 was just an example... if you really want a NVIDIA card, AFAIK 9800GTX+ performs on par with the 4850 and is priced about the same. Both of those cards should be cheaper on newegg than the 8800GT you just bought, and will outperform it, so if you can return your 8800GT you may want to look into those. As for the 9800GT, it offers very little real-world performance improvements over 8800GT, I wouldn't say it's worth it.to be honest i kind of prefer an Nvidia chip set over ATI
just a personal preference. < dumb.....maybe
