8800GT Outdated?!

Not necessarily dumb, the 4850 was just an example... if you really want a NVIDIA card, AFAIK 9800GTX+ performs on par with the 4850 and is priced about the same. Both of those cards should be cheaper on newegg than the 8800GT you just bought, and will outperform it, so if you can return your 8800GT you may want to look into those. As for the 9800GT, it offers very little real-world performance improvements over 8800GT, I wouldn't say it's worth it.
the + version is actually a bit better than the HD 4850.

well the 8800GTX had a reign about the same length (i believe) and before that the 7900GTX ruled king lol so its always been like this but it is fun to look back just a few months when the 8800gt was the shit.

I jsut got a PNY 8800GT and its still a very nice card. Don't worry about what people say how its old and therefore it stinks. I thinks its great as I can play all of my games at max settings on my 19in 1440X990 dell mointor.

yup its a great card,im eraly happy with mine and its not even overclocked yet.

is the 8800GT old? the answer is no, it is still a highish mid range card. you are on a forum where if you don't have the absolute newest generation of everything, your system is considered outdated. to the rest of the world however, your PC is current and is still very usable. as long as you aren't playing on crazy resolutions or with AA/AF, the 8800GT will be able to play games on high or medium settings (depending on the game) for around another year, at which point you might want to upgrade because it may start to show signs of its age. ;)

Got my 8800gt on eBay for around $90 shipped in August.

I can come close to maxing Crysis Warhead, with certain settings on High (gamer) and not Very High. Asus isn't great, but the card still kicks ass.

If you can afford an aftermarket cooler, you can OC a fair amount too.

My 2 cents.
