The minimum requirements for the new quake is pentium 4, 3.0 ghz or highter BUT my quad core is only 2.4Ghz:mad:

the rest of my rig is fine but its that one thing im worried about, do you guys think it will lag on my pc?

should I get it?

thanks

Right, here's where a lot of people get confused; the Pentium 4 is based on the god-awful Netburst architecture so it needed massive clocks to get decent performance, the Q6600 is a core architecture processor that needs fewer clocks to still get brilliant performance. GHz still matters to get the best perfomance but that only relates to the Core 2 Duo/Quad family.

So it doesn't matter, your CPU should do very well in that game.

The minimum requirements are for a single core CPU. I'm sure your Q6600 would blow it out of the water. Plus, the 8800GT is an amazing card. I'm almost 100% sure you won't have a problem. If you do, just OC the Q6600 to 3GHz.

Only OC if you have the G0 Q6600 (SCLAR in product code I think). If you don't it is not as easily overclockable

And yes it will run it easy I have Q6600 and GTS and my computer is twice the power of friends and his played it easily.

PENTIUM - 2.4GHz

Q6600 - 2.4GHz x4 (4 cores :D)

Even steppings besides the G0 are great at overclocking, just not as great. Thats no reason not to overclock.

Would be a reason to maybe not stick it to 3ghz on stock cooling though. I read that was like the maximum safe for long term use speed you could clock the G0 model to though. Although they whacked it up to 4ghz on stock cooling and it survived (not advisable though hehe).

Hey you have a better spec than mine, dont worry that quake wars will run great on your pc.
Even my e6320 + 8600gt can run it excelent with all high setting, its not a demanding game like bioshock or crysis, even cod4 runs great on my spec with most setting turn on.
