8800GT SLI vs. 8800GTX

Would I be better off going x2 8800GT in SLI (on the EVGA 680i Mobo, 16x/16x) or just getting the 8800GTX. I've heard the GT is up to par with the GTX (I would be overclocking either card) but that SLI isn't very good.

Just get one 8800gt, will deffinatly be enough, SLI is crap and the GTX is over priced now

Yeah, I wouldn't get SLI, and like Taylor said the GTX is too epensive when you could simply OC a single GT and be better than the GTX!

I would get either a single or SLI GT. I don't think its crap as long as you have a board that supports x16/x16 speed.

A single 8800GT will perform almost to the level of a GTX, so GT's in SLI will crush the GTX. However, do you really need that performance? I would suggest getting one 8800GT right now, and then upgrading when you actually need the power.

Get the 680i board and a single 8800GT, a good SLI PSU too.. Then maybe Spring/Early Summer upgrade to duals...

Thats the best advice anyone can give, or wait for the new revised GTS

Sounds good. I'll stick with one 8800GT on the 680i until games really utilize the SLI.
