8800GTS G92 Temp - and, or upgrade?

What do you think the highest safe temp for an 8800GTS G92 is?

At load, my cards are hitting 82c, this is with the fan at 89%, too! :eek:

Where about do you think my cards fit in today's GPU's? I've not looked into 'em for a while.

Your computer is still up there in performance, its a hella of a lot more powerful than mine :D
 
My CPU is at 28c idle and around 40-ish when gaming.

I'm not too sure if it's just my drivers, but I think it's heat related. When I'm playing CoD, sometimes the screen will flicker black, but I can still hear the sound. Then, it'll come back as normal. When I exit the game there will be a little Yellow triange in the notification area, which means a driver fault... so I'm not too sure.

I'll try lowering my OC on the cards see if that helps.
 
Does the 8800GTS have a single slot cooler or does it take up two slots? If it is single slot that is probably as good as it will get. My 4870 idles at 46C and maxes at about 72C but it has a big heatsink that takes up a second slot. If my 8800GT still worked, I would check its temp. Your CPU temps look great though so it should rule out an airflow issue though even with good airflow, since the graphics card has its stuff facing down, it might not be getting the airflow it needs.
 
It's a dual slot cooler, so it should be a bit cooler. Or at least I'd hope it would.

There isn't much space between the cards and the PSU since I'm running SLI.

I'll lower the OC and see what happens.

Yeah id try lowering the temps....though it also sounds like a dying monitor too.

Got a spare GPU to test the theory?


Also what you looking at if you do upgrade? GTX 275 1782mb version or the GTX 295 / 4870x2 or 2x 4890s ^-^

With the error and triangle, definately overheating cards. I would start by cleaning out the heatsinks on the cards to remove any dust/etc. Next i would change the thermal paste on the gpu's if cleaning dust didnt help.

That's it?!

Mine hits over 90C when i play GRID with the fan at 100%, i am cursed. :(
