8800s 2 slots?

No, thats not correct

Edit: you might be confused with the fact that the cooler is 2 PCI slots high tough.. so if you have one of those cards, you wont be able to use the pci slot next to it.

No you don't, but you can run two of these cards at the same time useing something called SLI to double the power.

You only need one PCIe slot to run the card. What you read is talking about the fact that the card will take up two "expansion" slots.

No no no no no..... it means you need 2 expansion slots open, not PCI-E slots.... you need 2 since the cooling device takes up the other expansion slot.

On newegg, it says 400W minimum for the card, I am planning on a 500W, but I see many people with this card with 600 and more. I do not plan to OC, and planning on stock cooling (maybe cpu fan). Will 500W be fine?

They're the newer cards, it's just like everything in the past. The G80 is now the highest end card out.
