Aloha. I have a Toshiba L755d-s5130 and am running Win 7 64 bit. I have 8gb ram installed. It USED to register all my RAM...now Windows only recognizes 3.47 gb. I attempted troubleshooting the problem first by resetting the cmos. Didn't work. Then reseating RAM...Nothing. Then by testing each stick(which are identical and both show 3.47gb usable. Then I went into windows and into msconfig/boot/advanced and checked/unchecked max memory(tried both.) Still only 3.47gb usable with 2 4gb perfectly matching ram modules that function fine on their own....What am I missing here? Am I missing something painfully obvious? How can I get it to recognize and utilize all 8gb? Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day/night whatever it may be and wherever u are. :)

Did you do anything to your OS that may have caused this? You say that it used to recognize all the RAM, but not anymore, can you go into more detail when you noticed this and what happened prior? This sounds like a 32 bit OS, are you positive you are running x64?

Have you tried each stick in each slot? I was gonna suggest maybe one slot has died on you.

Aloha. I am definitely running x64. I have tried swapping both sticks of ram. and tried them both on their own. It shows 8gb, but only 3.47 usable. So it seems my laptop is recognizing the ram... but something in windows is holding it up... None of this makes any sense. Every 6 months, I remove ram, keyboard, literally everything out of my laptop. Air dust everything, and reassemble. It;s why my laptop still looks brand new to this day. I have done this countless times with no issue other than I have to reremove cmos again after assembly to get windows to recognize all 8 gb. I had to do this when originally upgrading to 8gb of ram as well. Reset cmos... Is there anything else inside windows that could be the culprit? Any suggestions?.....Oh and thanks for the above replies
